becoming a Patrol Aide
This position starts at an annual salary of $41,745
- Assist officers with traffic control at accident scenes and special events
- Direct traffic at school crossings
- Respond to disabled vehicle reports and assist motorists
- Investigate abandoned vehicles and collect evidence for minor property crimes
- Conduct searches for missing persons
- Transport department vehicles for maintenance
- Provide public information and assistance
Requirements Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED/HSE
Experience: None required
Licenses: Valid driver’s license meeting City Driving Standards
Age Requirements:
At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
Special Requirements:
– U.S. Citizenship required
– Must apply to become a sworn officer by age 19.5 or after 2.5 years in the program
– Rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays, required
– Emergency operations support may fall outside normal duties
